Lights Out America
Lights Out America is about how to stay alive in the case of an electrical grid disruption (loss of power and/or communication outage) or other catastrophic event. And it should be at the top of everyone’s reading list. Why? Because we can’t vote our way out of an unpredicted catastrophe and the government and police won’t do much good either.
Responsibility for Survival
As the author points out “Survival Depends on You”.
Despite being a scary topic, Joe Alexander does his best to make the subject more palatable with witty quips and easy to follow instructions.
Lights Out America is relatively short (166 pages) but so full of information, it obviously represents more than a cursory study by the author. How did Joe Alexander come to know all this information? What inspired him to share it with the world?
Here is an interview with Joe and his wife (who helped write and edit the book).
Interview of Joe and His Wife
What inspired you to write this book? Was it a particular world event?
The inspiration came from an awareness of critical situations around the world and how our country would deal with any impending disaster we might face.
The book has so much information in it. Did you get all this information while you were in the military or were there other influencing factors?
Much of the information is from military training and experience, and some from Joe’s diverse background in construction and electrical.
Is there one chapter or piece of information that you consider to be the most important?
Chapter 2, Survival Depends on You, it deals with having the correct mindset and clear attitude to be able to survive whatever you need to survive.
How prepared do you believe most people are for a grid disruption?
Most people are not prepared at all! Many that are “ready” are not correctly prepared. Our book teaches one how to be correctly prepared and ready for almost anything.
If someone reads Lights Out America now, how long would it take them to get prepared for a disaster? Should we start preparing now?
Absolutely, start prepping now! Be sure to get extra waters and food each time you go to the grocery store. Pick up extra batteries and matches as well. You don’t need to go crazy prepping! A little at a time will work just fine. You don’t need to break the bank.
Where can people get your book?
AMAZON.COM or LIGHTSOUTAMERICABOOK.COM
Anything else either of you would like to say to the readers about this topic?
Whether or not you believe an emergency/ event could happen, it is far better to prepare for the worst than to come up short if it does happen.
“Better to have and not need, than need and not have”
