Legislative Accountability

Legislative Accountability

The core values of our legislative team are freedom, personal responsibility, and faith in God.

To that end, our legislative team holds our state officials and legislators accountable to the Constitution of the State of Georgia preamble:

To perpetuate the principles of free government, insure justice to all, preserve peace, promote the interest and happiness of the citizen and of the family, and transmit to posterity the enjoyment of liberty, we the people of Georgia, relying upon the protection and guidance of Almighty God, do ordain and establish this Constitution.”

We take action in the Georgia legislative process to promote laws that secure liberty and restore limited government. We oppose legislation that opposes these basic Constitutional concepts and interferes with our God-given rights.

What We Do

Fulton County Speaks represents individuals who advocate for reduced government overreach, transparency, and common-sense legislation.

These citizens are staunch advocates of honest and secure elections, where every vote is counted and every voice is heard.

We honor life and support policies that protect life from conception to natural death.

We are committed to legislation that allows for school choice and preserves parents’ rights to determine the best educational setting for their children.

Georgians who want freedom and prosperity believe in a free-market economy, where the government does not interfere by picking winners and losers through subsidies. Instead, these Georgians advocate for policies that allow businesses to compete fairly and thrive based on innovation and merit.

Regarding the grave issue of Human Trafficking, we promote a dual legislative approach. Fulton County Speaks is the voice for those who advocate for stronger penalties for perpetrators of human trafficking. At the same time we advocate for the protection and rehabilitation of victims.

We believe that individuals have sovereign domain over the care of their bodies and the right to choose or decline medical procedures without coercion. We support this belief by promoting written informed consent legislation. We advocate for holding practitioners to high ethical standards in their practice and accountability for any harm they cause.

Educating the Community

Most people don’t know how laws get passed or blocked. Yet, our very freedoms depend on what happens in the Capitol with our legislators.

The legislators work for us; our Georgia Constitution says so:

Paragraph I. Origin and foundation of government. All government, of right, originates with the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole. Public officers are the trustees and servants of the people and are always amenable to them.

Informed Georgians teach the community how to get involved with their legislators. This information includes reading and understanding legislation, speaking to legislators, and voicing concerns at committee meetings. Once educated, citizens can become engaged in research and writing legislation.

Liberty, Justice, and Opportunity

In short, we are dedicated to ensuring that the people’s voice is heard and that liberty, justice, and opportunity for prosperity are preserved in legislative decisions.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to the basic principles of freedom and personal responsibility as we navigate the complex landscape of Georgia politics.

We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.” Thomas Jefferson
